Tourist Guide Oran
Oran is in north-western Algeria. Situated on the Mediterranean coast, it is the second-largest city in Algeria, and is most famous for being the birthplace of the Rai music style.
Oran enjoys an ideal Mediterranean climate; it has hot, dry summers (21-25oC) and warm, cool winters (8-12 oC).
Founded by Moorish Andalusian traders around AD 937, Oran is one of the busiest ports in Algeria today and is a centre of industry, commerce and trade. It is also an important educational and cultural destination in Algeria.
Oran hosts a population of one million inhabitants, a majority of whom are of Arab and Berber origins.
