Oran is a fascinating mix of old and new. The old quarter of Oran boasts of Arab, Berber, Ottoman and Spanish architecture—the Cathedral of Saint-Louis, the 18th century Great Mosque, and the Marabout Sidi Mohammed El Haouri from 1793. Oran’s coast is dotted with sandy beaches and little cafes. Notable beaches include Ain El Turk, Les Andalouses, Canastel, Kristel, Mostaganem, Cap Blanc, Madagh Plage, Cap Falcon and Sablettes. While here try a popular Oran delicacy, Karantika, with glass of typical Algerian Etey (mint tea).
