Tourist Guide Kasane
Kasane, in north-western Botswana, is home to nearly 10,000 people. Located at the tip of the country, this small town shares a border with Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The town experiences semi-arid weather conditions. In the summer months of November-March temperatures rise to 35-45C. In the colder months of May-August, the mercury dips to 10-25C, with very cold nights.
Historically, Kasane is best documented as the town from where the famous explorer, Dr. David Livingstone discovered the Victoria Falls.
Kasane is the start point of the expeditions into the Chobe National Park. This attracts tourists to the town and fuels its economy.
The people of the town originally inhabited what is today the national park. Of Basarwa and Batawana origin, they were shifted out of the forest when the land was reserved.
