Foumban, with the Palais Royal, is one of the major attractions in Cameroon. The palace resembles a medieval chateau and houses a museum displaying royal gowns, jewellery, musical instruments and other royal valuables. Another fascinating structure is the Fon’s Palace, home to the royal chief of the Tikar community.
Adventurous travellers will find the visit to the Mandara Mountains very fulfilling. The hillsides are dotted with tiny villages, each with its unique character. Waza National Park is rich in wildlife and watching them in their natural habitat is truly a rewarding experience. Dja Faunal Reserve is one of the largest and best-protected rainforests in Africa. Bordered by the Dja River, the reserve is known for its biodiversity and its resident primates. Mount Cameroon is a popular mountaineering destination.
History enthusiasts must not miss the Benedictine Museum of Mont-Febe and the National Museum of Yaoundé.
