The traditional large, one-course evening meal is common throughout the country. A typical dish consists of rice, couscous or mashed potato and is generally served with a sauce, soup, or stew made from greens, groundnuts or palm oil.
Water, palm wine, and millet beer are the traditional mealtime drinks. French and Lebanese cuisines are easily available. The country abounds in avocado pears, manoic leaves, citrus fruits, pineapples and mangoes.
