Treks across the island are very popular, with trips across the oasis, mountains and the sand dunes. Adding to the experience are several mountains in the region these include Santo Antonio and Monte Negro.
Boa Vista’s main town, Sal Rei, enjoys a lively night life. Local bands, ‘dance till dawn’ parties and all-night-cafes dot the island.
Santa Monica with its snow white sand is the most popular beach on the island. The island offers a range of water-sports including scuba diving, swimming, fishing and snorkeling. It is also known for its exotic marine turtle population.
Every August the island celebrates the Festival of Music of Praia de Santa Cruz. This festival brings together artists from all over the country as well as from abroad to perform in the city.
Try the local sea food delicacies, especial the Lagostada, the Capado and the local Cheese.
