August to October is the best time to visit Cape Verde as the weather during these months is nice and warm, though winds are strong all through the year. Remaining months of the year are cooler.

Each island of Cape Verde hosts several festivals throughout the year. The nation as a whole celebrates several traditional festivals. The Carnival, celebrated all over, especially in Sao Vicente and Sao Nicolau, is held in February or March, on the occasion of Ash Wednesday.
