Bangui, the capital and largest city of Central African Republic, lies in the
southern part of the country on the Ubangi River and close to the Congo, Kinshasa,
border.
Bangui is a very important trade centre. Its manufactures include textiles,
food products, beer, shoes, and soap.
Bangui's port controls most of the country's international trade and the principal
exports are cotton, timber, and coffee.
The city was founded in 1889.
