Aswan is home to many ancient temples such as the Philae Temple dedicated to Isis and the Kalabsha Temple of the Nubian God Menolis.
Aswan also has several museums: the Aswan Museum on the Aswan dam, the open air Sculptures Museum of Art at Shalal and the Nubian Museum, a tribute to Nubian heritage.
The city has many historical sites: The Elephantine Island from the time of the Pharaohs, the Unfinished Obelisk, a leftover piece of ancient Egyptian construction, the revered Nobles' Tombs of Mekho, Sapti, Khons and Harkhok, the Coptic Anba Samaan Monastery,the most important Christian antiquity in Egypt, and so on.
Every night Nubian dancers and musicians perform in the CulturalCenter.
The Miracle of the sun festival at Abu Simbel celebrates King Ramses II and the Nubian culture, it is held twice a year.
When here, don’t miss the local market at the Old town souk or a ride on the local boats, the white felucca on the Nile.
