Cairo International Airport is situated NE of the city about 15km from the business area.
It is the 2nd-busiest airport of Africa. It consists of 2 terminals and a third one is under construction.
It also has 4 runways and one cargo terminal.
Terminal 1 is known as the ‘Old Airport’ and is mainly used by EgyptAir for its international and domestic flights.
Other airlines that make use of this terminal include El Al, Air France and many airlines from Arabia.
It also contains a big shopping mall called AirMall.
Terminal 2 mainly serves the Far Eastern and European airlines as well as airlines from sub-Saharan Africa and from the Gulf region.
The terminal houses duty-free shops, cafeterias and a restaurant.
There are also meeting points and lounges for business travelers.
Other prominent airlines served by the airport include AMC Airlines, Lotus Air, Syrian Arab Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines.
The Cairo International Airport also serves many cargo airlines.
