Once the ancient capital of Egypt during the Middle Kingdom, Memphis is worth visit place for any tourist. Founded by the first Dynasty Pharaoh Menes around 3100 BCE, the site was destroyed post the Arab conquest in the 6th century CE. Most of treasures here were looted and the sparse remains offer special excursion. The place is worth seeing like the colossal statue of Ramses II, mummified Apis bulls, alabaster sphinx of King Thutmose III. One can get to see artifacts that are on display in a garden. One can get to see the ruins of this former capital that offers fragmented evidence of its outstanding past.
Opening hours: Winter: 0730 - 1600 daily; Summer: 0730 – 1700 hours daily
