The Al-Azhar Park was inaugurated in 2005 and is located adjacent to Cairo’s Darb al-Ahmar district. This park was created by the historic cities Support Program of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. During the development of the park, a part of the 12th century Ayyubid wall was discovered and restored too. This park is vital for the tourists as this hilly site is surrounded by some significant historic districts of Islamic Cairo.
