Cairo, the largest city in Africa, home to the Egyptians, and offering an outstanding array of art; the question is where to start from? Islamic Cairo in the center of the old town offers a great example of Islamic architecture; look up from the small windy roads to admire the wooden terraces and the small turrets that characterize the houses. Next is the Mosque of Ibn Taluud, the oldest one in the city, the queue is often long but it is worth the wait. The world famous al-Azhar Mosque is the next must see, it is home to one of the largest universities in the Middle East along with an ancient collection of books, art and manuscripts.
