Do not drink alcohol during Ramadan

Beware of the insistent friendliness of policemen and the Egyptian camel drivers who may try to earn a few Egyptian pounds from you for small favors. If you want someone to take your picture simply ask another friendly tourist instead of one of the locals.

The best time to visit Cairo is between September and April when the weather is fairly pleasant. When planning your trip it's also worth considering the timing of the various Muslim festivals as during Ramadan or the Islamic month of fasting, several tourist sites shut early and many restaurants open only in the evening.

Egyptians are forbidden from drinking in public places during Ramadan and therefore alcohol is seldom served outside hotels during this month and you may have to show a passport to prove that you're not an Egyptian.

Not all the Locals are bad as you mentioned. and about Ramadan, yes but only Muslims don't eat or drink from sunrise to sunset and many restaurants open only after the sunset. but no one will ask you to show your passport because only Muslims are forbidden from eating and drinking, so if you are not Muslim you can eat and drink freely. Ramadan is a 30 days celebration here in Egypt.
