The Valley of Kings in Luxor, Egypt has tombs of many pharaohs and nobles.

The tombs are of kings belonging to the New Kingdom and have been designed and decorated beautifully. The oldest tomb is the Tomb of Tuthmose III. This oval shaped tomb with ancient inscriptions is worth a visit. The chamber adjacent to the Tomb of Ramses III houses the well-known painting of the two blind harpists. The burial chamber of Ramses VI is marvellous with the ceiling bearing the painting of Nut, the sky goddess.

The major attraction in The Valley of Kings is the Tomb of Tutankhamun. The remains of this famous king are almost 3,300 years old. The burial chamber has many beautiful paintings, and the innermost coffin is made of 110 kg of solid gold. Near the burial chamber was the treasury that contained precious paraphernalia for the king’s afterlife.
