It is safe to walk around the city in the day and explore the life of the locals in the city of Luxor.
There are more than forty six hotels registered with the Egyptian Hotels Association in Luxor which gives tourists a wide choice. Most of the hotels are located in the southern region and near the station. The local currency is the Egyptian pound and banks are open in all major hotels for twenty four hours.
Exchange money only at licensed and authorized offices. As Egypt is an Islamic country be sure to follow the culture and tradition and respect the local laws. Wear conservative clothes and avoid wearing any revealing outfits especially when visiting religious places.
Women should avoid strangers who whistle or try to befriend them; it is advisable not to respond.
