Tigu, which is an Egyptian fort, St Maryam Dearit Chapel, Debra Sina Monastery and the local markets are some of the major attractions in Keren.
Keren possesses stylish colonial architecture. Visitors should take a walk through the beautiful public buildings such as the ruins of the old Imperial Palace and a Romanesque Catholic church.
The Wood and Camel market is a famous place where hundreds of camels are brought to be sold. Also, heaps of firewood is sold here.
Giro Fiori, the centre of Keren, is surrounded by beautiful heritage structures. It also houses various restaurants.
The shrine of St Maryam Dearit is also an enthralling site, which is about 500 years old. Every year in May, there is a pilgrimage to this place with many cultural events.
