Benachin or Jollof rice—a traditional West African rice dish with onions, spices, tomatoes or tomato paste mixed with meat, fish or vegetables—is a popular dish. Peanuts, being the staple crop of the country, are used in a variety of dishes. Chicken Yassa, made from chicken boiled with onion, black pepper and lime or lemon, and Domoda, a meat stew served with rice and peanut butter sauce are other delicacies.
Julbrew, the country’s local beer, is the most popular drink.
