Tourist Guide Georgetown
Janjanbureh, formerly known as Georgetown, is a city in Gambia. Founded in 1832, it is home to approximately 3694 inhabitants.
The climate is dry and warm from October to June. December through February is the peak tourist season. It rains from July to September, with the rest of the year being dry and dusty.
Established on the Janjanbureh Island (formerly the MacCarthy Islands) in the River Gambia, by Captain Alexander Grant, Janjanbureh was a settlement for freed slaves.
