Lake Nakuru , one of the alkaline lakes of the Rift Valley, is a birdwatcher's paradise. It is home to 400 resident species on the lake and is especially famous for the thousands of flamingos , cormorants and white pelicans found here.
The Lake Nakuru National Park is a wildlife reserve that surrounds the Nakuru Lake . It is best known for being one of the few parks left where you can still spot a big Black Rhino , amongst other animals.
Explore the Menengai Crater , a dormant volcano . Even today small fumaroles and steam vents can be seen within the forested caldera . It is the second largest surviving volcanic crater in the world.
Catch some sporting action at the Rift Valley Sports Club . Every year the club hosts teams form across the East African region at the Great Rift 10-a-side Rugby festival.
Hyrax Hill Prehistoric Site , in the Rift Valley, is a famous archaeological site. Discovered in 1926, it is a major Neolithic and Iron Age site. The adjoining Hyrax Hill Museum was set up in 1965 and displays artefacts from Hyrax Hill as well as other sites in the Central Rift Valley.
