High street galleries are a long shot away from the Masai Mbili, literally two Masais, gallery in Kibera, the largest slum in Nairobi and the second one in Africa.
Masai Mbili are a collective of 9 men and 1 women with a mission: paint, draw and construct art. In Kibera they are a legend and their fame has surpassed the Kenyan border as they launched in November their first South African exhibition.
Don’t be afraid to venture in Kibera, despite stereotypes people are more smiley and more available than in the busy town center.
