Nairobi is not a dangerous place to visit as long as one takes the normal precautions that one should while visiting a foreign land.
It is recommended that one does not travel late at night or in lonely areas or display one’s wealth or valuables so as not to attract unnecessary attention.
The train is useful for travelling to nearby areas as the fares are cheap, although they can get pretty crowded at times.
Respect local traditions and dress appropriately while visiting religious places. There may be serious fines for breaking the law so become familiar with the local laws and customs and abide by them.
Avoid carrying wildlife products out of the country as they can be confiscated at the customs and criminal prosecution could follow.
If you lose any valuable documents or your passport, inform the police immediately.
