Liberia’s economy was devastated due to years of civil war. Currently, it has an unemployment rate of 85%, the second highest in the world. Seventy percent of the population is employed in agriculture and allied industries. Its main industries are rubber and palm oil processing, timber and diamonds. The daily budget for a tourist in Liberia ranges from 3,500 L$ to 7,000 L$. The average cost of a meal is about 350 L$.
