Things to Do in Sabratha: attractions to See in Sabratha

Sabratha: Attractions and more...

The archaeological excavations of the ancient city, Sabratha, have been included on UNESCO’s World heritage Site. The most impressive structure amidst these well-preserved ruins is the Theatre. It is a huge circular structure with archways and an amphitheatre-style seating arrangement. Many of the carved and mosaic figures adorning the walls are still visible.

The Forum or the baths face towards the sea and are spread over a large area and dotted with towering columns. The floors of the baths are laid with colourful tiles in beautiful patterns. In fact, a geometrical pattern in black and white tiles is also seen in the passageway leading to the House of Jason Magnus. Temples dedicated to Egyptian gods and goddesses and a Christian basilica are also found here.

The Museum of Sabratah in the vicinity holds many of the artefacts and relics found here during the excavation while some other have been transferred to the museum at Tripoli.
