Libyan cuisine reflects Arabic, Italian and Mediterranean influences. Local specialities include Ruuz, a portion of meat and vegetables cooked in spices and served with rice; Sharba Libiya, spicy lamb and tomato soup; and Macaroni Bazin, a paste made from barley, water and salt. Meals are washed down with Libyan Tea.
Also expect servings of dates, figs, apricots and olives.
