Tourist Guide Mangoky River
The Mangoky River rises in the central highlands of Madagascar and enters the Indian Ocean through the Mozambique Channel. The river flows in a westerly direction and crosses the Bemaraha Plateau, the coastal plain and its delta on the way.
There is a vast expanse of dry deciduous forests along the Mangoky River. The region is also home to the largest baobab forest in the world. These forests are the abode of the most exquisite flora and fauna. The Mangoky River Basin, covering an area of around 50,000 sq km, has undergone severe soil erosion as well as deforestation in the last few years. Still, the tranquil river waters and peaceful surroundings make it a wonderful holiday destination.
The region has a tropical climate almost all through the year; days are dry and sunny and nights are cool. The persistent cool breeze considerably alleviates temperatures.
