Tourist Guide Blantyre
Blantyre is in southern Malawi. Situated on the on the Shire River, it is home to an estimated 2,000,000 inhabitants.
The city experiences a tropical climate with three seasons: rainy season (December-March), cool season (April-August) and a hot season (September-November).
Blantyre was established in 1876 as a Church of Scotland Mission Station. It was named after the birthplace of famous explorer David Livingstone.
Blantyre is the main commercial and industrial centre of Malawi. The local population is of Bantu origins.
