Things to Do in Segou: attractions to See in Segou

Segou: Attractions and more...

Segou is an easygoing, quiet city and is a great place to stopover when vacationing in Mali. It is a picturesque place, with tree-lined streets and friendly locals.

Segou-Koro has numerous structures built out of mud-brick and stucco, which are fine examples of typical Bamana urban architecture. There is also an important complex of three mosques here, which is the centre of Muslim pilgrimage.

Segou is home to a flourishing community of local artisans, including potters, weavers and wood workers. It hence provides extensive shopping opportunities. Monday being the local market day, there is plenty of scope to pick up good bargains as well as interact freely with the locals. A visit to one of the millet beer bars is also highly recommended.

L'Auberge and Hotel Independence are the best places to stay here as they offer splendid Malian and Middle-Eastern cuisine and are replete with European styled bars and music.
