Jenne Jeno is a historic place and is famous for its mud brick architecture, and is one of the oldest known cities in sub-Saharan Africa. This city has been subject to many archeological digs by Roderick and Susan McIntosh along with others. It is believed that this city dates back to the 3rd century BCE. There are also evidences of iron production and use of domesticated animals and plants. Moreover, one can also get to see the urban development as early as 900 CE.
