Mali is one of the poorest countries in the world. Even though it has an agricultural economy, less than 2% of the land is cultivable. Eighty percent of the labour force is employed in agriculture; however, most of the work is for subsistence. Mali is one of Africa’s largest producers of cotton, groundnuts, fruits and vegetables.
The average daily budget for a tourist in Mali is about 5,000 CFA to 17,000 CFA. An average meal costs about 1,400 CFA to 3,200 CFA.
