The city of Niono is a tiny, rustic and laidback place. Often referred to as the African Venice, the entire city is navigable by boat. Lined with mud-brick houses, Niono’s main attraction is the famous mud-brick mosque.
These structures provide the place with a distinctive African feel and offer tourists the opportunity to explore and experience the African lifestyle.
Niono is not the well equipped in terms of infrastructure and tourist facilities. However, it offers an amazing experience of real Africa for the curious and keen visitor. The ever- friendly and hospitable locals and picturesque surroundings make it a perfect place to visit for a one-day trip, when vacationing in Mali.
