Tourist Guide Curepipe

Curepipe (pronounced cue-pip) is situated in Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean. It is home to an estimated 81,600 people.

Curepipe lies on the central plateau and thus enjoys a temperate climate with cool winters and rainy, humid summers. Temperatures vary between 12-22C in winter and 18-30C in summer.

The city is known as an elegant residential town and is characterized by posh villas, shopping malls and landscaped gardens. Curepipe is also the centre of the island’s tea and model-ship building industries.
Until recently, Curepipe was the primary place of residence for French descendants. Today it has a more cosmopolitan crowd.
