Introduction

Curepipe: Attractions and more...

Take a walking tour of Curepipe’s main street of historical interest, the beautiful Elizabeth Ave. Also visit the Carnegie Library; established in1917, it is known for its manuscript collection and its collection on Indian Ocean Islands.

The Trou aux Cerfs, an extinct volcano, is the main attraction of Curepipe. From the top of the Trou aux Cerfs, you enjoy a stunning view of most of the island. You can also visit the Rempart Mount, Mount St Pierre, Pieter Both, Le Pouce and Les Trois Mamelles nearby.

A small drive away is the Grand Bassin, a serene lake in the crater of an extinct volcano.

The Bois Cheri Tea Factory and Museum is not far from Grand Bassin. Here you can be part of the tea making process and enjoy many flavours of tea.

Also nearby is the Black River Gorges National Park, with a number of walking trails.

Don’t miss the viewpoint at the Alexandra Falls. It shows off a stunning view of the Black River Gorges and the surrounding mountains.
