Saidia does not boast of much more than its beach. The beach runs for 29 miles and is one of the cleanest and best maintained in the country, and the waters are crystal clear. The city is lively and vibrant like any other resort town. The town is really crowded in the peak months but by October it dons almost a completely deserted look. A 400-year-old fortress and a Kasbah from the nineteenth century still stand and are worth a quick visit.
In the month of August, the city comes alive when the traditional Folk Music and Popular Arts Festival is held here. The festival manages to draw many visitors from around the rest of the country as well as abroad.
Lately, the political scenario in Algeria has become quite tense. This has had an effect on Saidia owing to its proximity to the border.
