Asilah is known as being a ‘hangout for the world’s artists’ because of the beautiful frescoes painted on the house walls and the various art exhibitions held in the city. A major tourist attraction of the city is the international Cultural Festival which takes place every August and includes music, art, sculptures, dance and much more.
Visitors to the city must not forget to visit the Monoliths of M’Soura, a spectacular Neolithic stone circle which is located 25 km south-east of Asilah. Equally significant are the interesting Roman Ruins of Lixus which are situated 5 km north of the city.
Owing to the regular influx of tourists round the year, Asilah has a wide range of hotels. Campsites are also available (most of them being close to the beaches) for the adventurous travellers. In the evening, one can take relaxing seaside walks and sample the amazing fried fish served by restaurants near the road.
