El Jadida is located in the southern part of Morocco. This port city of approximately 144,400 inhabitants is located along the country’s Atlantic Coast.
El Jadida enjoys a temperate climate with moderate temperatures throughout the year. During summers the temperature rises to a maximum of 30°C; it rarely goes below 15°C at any time of the year.
The original Portuguese settlement was known as Mazagao. This old city which had been fortified has been included by UNESCO on their list of World Heritage Sites.
El Jadida was controlled by the Portuguese for over two centuries, the influence of which is easily visible in the architecture and culture of the city while most of the country carries the influence of the Moors—the Moslems from Spain.
