Marrakesh city holds a number of historical attractions for the visitors. The Saadian Tombs are famous for the fine carvings on them. These tombs came to light in the year 1917.
However, the tombs date back to the period 1578 to 1603, when sultan Ahmad- Al- Mansor ruled the city. The tombs are enclosed in a beautifully structured mausoleum.
Inside this structure, nearly 60 members belonging to Saadi Dynasty are buried. This Saadi Dynasty was established around the Draa River in Marrakesh.
Visitors can see the tomb of ruler of the city, Ahmad- Al- Mansor as well. This tomb is surrounded by the tombs of his family. The stele around the tombs is made up of finely carved stucco and cedar wood.
The stone used in graves is of Italian Carrara type marble. Visitors can see the astonishing design on the tombs, which exhibit the artistic facet of the Islamic culture.
