Beware while following the road maps in Morocco as some roads do not exist anymore and one could get lost while driving.
Hire a guide while visiting the Medina as it is possible to get lost in this huge maze which is know only to the locals. Do not have food at the stalls as the portions are small and not good, it is better to dine at a proper restaurant instead.
Be careful when taking taxis from the airport as they can charge a very expensive fare, so, bargain for a lower fare before travelling. Horse driven carriages are available for exploring the area.
The markets can be crowded, noisy and dirty and sometimes the sellers can be too pushy, but, take in the beauty of the natural surroundings and enjoy exploring the place on your own.
The official currency is the Moroccan Dirham and credit cards are widely accepted. However, avoid changing currency with local vendors as they may not be reliable.

| You make a lot of interesting points.
When you come to somewhere like Morocco, it is important that you realise it is not like Europe, and that your frame of reference will expand hugely.
The medina is ancient - there is bound to be lots of noise and people on narrow streets as that is how the medina was built. That is part of the experience of visiting.
In terms of guides - The souqs are large but there are so many roads leading back to the main square that generally I don't think it is necessary to hire a guide. You get a more independent experience without one.
