The Mellah is a 16th century old Jewish quarter of Marrakesh built under Saadin Sultan Moulay Abdallah’s rule. He offered protection to the Jewish people who lived here, though many of them fled to the Spanish Reconquista.
At present, this place is mostly populated by Muslims.
Visitor to the area can get to see small synagogues, which can be visited with the help of a local guides.
