Tourist Guide Mohammedia
Mohammedia is located in the north-western part of Morocco on the Atlantic Ocean. This seaside resort town has a population of approximately 190,000 inhabitants.
Mohammedia enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year. The cool winds blowing in from the ocean keeps the temperatures pleasant. The same ocean helps keep the winters moderate unlike the extreme temperatures in the desert interiors.
The region gained importance post the Middle Ages as it became the Moroccan base for traders from mainland Europe. During the colonisation period, the French captured it and modernised the facilities at the port.
Mohammedia till less than fifty years ago went by the name Fedala; it was thus renamed after its King Muhammad V, who was instrumental in securing its independence from the French.
