The Casbah of Oudaia is a traditional part of the city. It is located in the northern side of the Medina area in Rabat. As the name suggests, it is the place where the Oudaia tribes lived. The people from this tribe were mercenaries.
This area comprises of narrow alleys running between traditional houses. These houses look serene and sunny with half white and half blue paint on the external walls. The houses feature crimson colored bougainvillea and red colored geraniums, which contrast the whitewashed background.
Tourists can visit the magnificent, lush green and colorful Andalusian Gardens in this region. The garden is a true oasis, in which the green plants are surrounded by thick walls.
The Oudaias were called in Rabat for its protection. It was more like a garrison rather than a residential area. Hence, visitors can see the stuff used in wars, like the cannons spread across this region.
