Tangier is in northern Morocco, and lies on the Strait of Gibraltar. The city is home to approximately 669,685 inhabitants.
Tangier enjoys moderate and subtropical climate, with an average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. Late spring and early summer are the best times to visit.
An ancient Phoenician trading post, Tangier today is an important industrial centre as well as a significant tourist destination.
The local population is mainly of Arab-Berber origin.
