The town of Taroudannt is almost entirely enclosed within the 7-m tall red walls. They are one of the most beautiful and well-maintained city walls in the country; their total perimeter is 5 km. Place Assareg—the town centre—is busy with local cafes spilling out into the pavements. The Kasbah or old town is not much different from others in Morocco.
The Berber Market specialises in the sale of various forms of spices and dates found in Morocco; nowadays, various modern products of every day use are also found here. The Arab Market is more popular with visitors as interesting souvenirs and Moroccan handicrafts may be found here.
The modern city of Agadir with a good infrastructure of hotels and other amenities is in the vicinity. This may be used as a base to explore Taroudannt which is comparatively lacking in touristic infrastructure.
