Even though the country’s economy has been severely affected by years of colonial rule, civil war and centrally-based policies, its economy has been among the fastest-growing in the world. Traditional Mozambican exports include cashews, shrimp, fish, copra, sugar, cotton, tea and citrus fruits, while imports constitute machinery, fuel and chemicals.

The average daily cost of living in the country for a tourist ranges between 1,200 MTn and 2,700 MTn.
