Luderitz: Attractions and more...

The town is known for its colonial architecture. The most striking of these are Goerke-Haus, a former magistrate’s residence built in 1909 and the Lutheran Church, built in 1912.

The local culture is on display at the Luederitz Museum which illustrates the history of the town. Also visit the Arts and Crafts Centre here, the wall hangings and carpets of karakul wool are worth a buy.

The new Luderitz Waterfront is a great place to shop, eat and mingle with the local folk.

The region is known for its exotic wildlife; this includes seals, penguins, flamingos and ostriches and offers some great wildlife and bird watching tours.
Luederitz has a beautiful camping ground on Shark Island, and vast, sandy beaches to lounge on. The best include the Grosse Bucht and Agate Beach, known for its colourful sand.

Enjoy windsurfing and snorkelling activities at the Grosse Bucht and Grosse Lagoon. If you are here during Easter don’t miss the board-sailing competition that takes place.
