Namibian cuisine has a unique blend of German influences and South African fare. Game dishes such as gemsbok, sprinkbok and kudu meat are popular dishes. German fare like sausages, brötchen and landjäger are easily available. Beer is the national drink of Namibia.
The ethnic groups also have their delicacies; the staple for the Ovambo people is mielie pap, a cornmeal porridge, or mahango, also made into a porridge or soup.
