Rehoboth is a small, historical city in central Namibia. It is located at a distance of 90 km, south of the capital of Namibia, Windhoek. The town is characterised by acacia woodland, sweet-thorn and candle-pod acacia.
Lying on a high elevation plateau, the town of Rehoboth experiences temperate climate like the rest of Namibia. The climate is dry and warm with very little rainfall. The average temperatures range between 15ºC to 25ºC.
As of 2005, the population of the city is approximately 21,400. The Basters Community forms the majority of the population of the city. Being the main inhabitants of the town, the Basters are descendants of mixed parentage who trekked the across the Orange River under their leader Heramnus van Wyk who finally settled here in Rehoboth in 1870.
