Ibadan: Attractions and more...
Ibadan is home to the best golf course in the country and also the first television station in Nigeria. The Institute of African Studies has an indoor museum which is well stocked with amazing pre-historic bronze statues and various works.
A prominent attraction of Ibadan is Cocoa House, which was the first skyscraper ever constructed in Africa and one of the few high rise buildings in the city. The Bower Memorial Tower in Aare Hill can be seen from practically any point in the city and provides a good view. For a good view of the city, the Premier Hotel is the ideal choice for tourists to stay because of its location on the Mokola hill.
When in Ibadan, don’t forget to visit a ‘buka’, which are local eateries scattered all around the city. The food may require you to come equipped with an inbuilt cooling system, but it is affordable. The most popular specialties include Amala (a black pudding) and soups like Efo and Gbegiri.
