The Senegalese economy is a developing one. Following the 1994 economic reforms, the country is fast transforming into the strongest economy in West Africa and the centre of economic development. The main industries include textiles, chemicals, petroleum, food processing, mining, cement, fisheries and fertilizers.
The average daily cost of living for a tourist is about 40 €–50 €; an average meal costs anywhere between 3 €–10 €. Bush taxis are the best way to get around.
