Tourist Guide Saint Louis
Saint Louis, or Ndar as it is locally called, is located in north-west Senegal. It is one of the most important cities of the country, located strategically at the mouth of the Senegal River and on the Langue de Barbarie, a narrow land strip that sinks into the Atlantic Ocean. The city is linked to the mainland by the Faidherbe Bridge.
The landscape is disturbed by sandstorms and dust from Harmattan winds during the dry season from November–May. The rainy season is usually from June–October.
Saint Louis has a population of around 171,000 people. Tourism remains the mainstay of the economy, with international visitors being drawn to the many tourist attractions and the rich culture of the city. It has the distinction of being inscribed on the UN’s World Heritage Site List.
